After school special

Situated at a walking distance from Kovan MRT station, Lola's cafe is one very convenient and rather affordable eatery. All the prices shown in the menu are nett already, so there is no need for the hassle to calculate the usual additional GST and service charge.
My first visit there was pretty comical. My Project Work mates and I headed there right after school last Tuesday, which was at about 3.30pm. We boarded bus 81 to Lola's without realising that their brunch menu ends at 3pm and dinner only starts at 6pm. When we found out, one of my friends wanted to alight the bus immediately and take another bus back home, but the rest of us managed to convince her that we'd enjoy the appetisers and desert. True enough, we left Lola's with smiles, especially her, couldn't stop beaming as we leave.
We tried out their famous Honey Paprika crispy wings, Nacho cheese fries, Bangers and Mash for starters and Sticky Honey Apple Cake with Vanilla ice cream and Seasalt Chocolate Tart with Coffee Cream for desert. I thought that the Bangers and Mash was average, nothing spectacular while the rest were great.
Finally, we tried out their brunch dishes today (yes, my 2nd time there in less than two weeks). I got Breakfast butter croissant, while my friends ordered Mushroom Melt and Avocado Eggs Benedict. Unfortunately they said their crispy wings weren't available, so we got Truffle Fries instead. Although the portions look relatively small (or just nice), they're rather filling by the end of the meal. I found the truffle fries a little too oily for my liking and it was considered expensive for the portion given. The Nacho cheese fries were better and cheaper. On the other hand, I loved what I ordered. Croissant has always been once of my favourites and when you add scrambled eggs, bacon and ham to it? UH-MAZING is what it is. I'm kinda tempted to make it on my own at home. Hehe. All of us devoured our food with gusto (learnt a new word so imma use it).
With friendly service and cosy ambience, my experiences there was wonderful. But you might wanna make reservations early before heading down because there's always a queue there. So if you mind standing outside under Singapore's hot and humit weather waiting for a table, do remember to log on to their website to make a reservation!
till next time, xx
