Austria + Germany Part 1

 - DAY 1 -

Hey guys! Just got back from my December vacation in Europe a few days ago. Spent about 3 nights in Salzburg, Austria and the rest in Munich, Germany. Touched down in Munich airport early in the morning, and managed to buy a data card from one of the stores there (3GB + about 15mins calling) for ~€25, but it's only for use in Germany. We then took the train to Salzburg.

Salzburg

Because we arrived early, and the check-in time was 2pm, we went roaming round the neighbourhood after leaving our luggage at the apartment.

All 6 of us loved the apartment. It was spacious, gorgeous and clean! Apparently, the owner owns 3 of such apartments and ours was relatively new (only about a year old) while the rest were recently renovated as well. There were 3 bedrooms, each containing 2 single beds. It wasc ompletely furnished (probably IKEA furniture), and the kitchen has everything you'll need—utensils (tons of them), condiments (e.g. salt), oven, microwave,  coffee maker, frying pans and pots! One bathroom (with a washing machine), one toilet and a toilet + bathroom. The dining table was loooong, could accommodate about 10 people.

After settling down, we headed to the Christmas markets at Mirabellplatz and Sternadvent.

- DAY 2 -
Join the morning Sound of Music tour by Panorama Tours. The tour guide was super friendly and funny, we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly although we didn't watch the movie (my parents the exception). But I'd recommend you to watch before going, if you are, because you'll enjoy it much more.

Saw tons of good reviews about Hans W, so we went there, only to find out it was closed. But we were hungry so we just randomly entered another restaurant nearby, Humboldt Stubn. The food was not bad, and we felt that it was decently priced. The Cordon Bleu I ordered was too salty for my liking though. The soup we ordered, Hausgemachte Rindsuppe mit Frittaten (beef soup with Frittaten), had sliced pancakes in it! We were surprised, my dad ordered without knowing what it was. The menu is in German, but not to worry, there's free WiFi available so you can just Google whatever you are unsure of.
