Bangkok 2018 Part I

Part ii is up here.

I realised I haven't finished editing the photos from my previous trip to BKK. But I'm done with this one so yay and maybe someday I'll finish those. *fingers crossed*

Spent 4 very short nights at BKK barely a week ago with my cousin and aunt! Had a blast, as always, and super happy to get whatever I wanted to (and more). We arrived at Don Muang Airport at almost midnight since we took a night flight and spent close to two freaking hours at the immigration queue. I don't remember queuing that long during my last trip there.

Took a Grab to our hotel, Spenza Hotel. From what I've heard, Grab is relatively cheaper than their usual cabs. I can't confirm this claim since we either took a Grab or Tuk-tuk whenever we needed to travel for this entire trip, so there weren't any means of comparison. Plus, we used Grab's pricing (since, just like Uber, you can view the price of the trip even before booking the car) as an estimate for our Tuk-tuks fares when we bargained with the drivers.

Day 1 | We spent our first day in Bangkok at the famous weekend market, Chatuchak. Food, clothes, accessories, home decors and many more — you name it, they have it.

Is it really a trip to Bangkok if you don't have boat noodles?

These fried quail eggs were the bomb

Freaking gorgeous dicks bottle openers
We've got temporary tattoos! It's supposed to last for 7 days but mine started to fade the next day (mostly my fault for not taking care of it better)

Dude totally rocking the watermelon outfit
After our shopping session, we headed to our dinner place — Big Dog Cafe. Pretty interesting experience especially if you're a dog lover. The 'entrance' fee to play and interact with the dogs is 199 Baht per person. You might have to make reservations in advance to secure a good seat especially if it's during the peak periods. Lucky for us, it wasn't very crowded when we went. So, even though we were pretty late for the time slot we booked, our seats were still available.

You could tell the staff really love the dogs

Day 2 | Most of our day was spent at Siam Square (kind of their version of Singapore's Orchard Road). Coleen was so excited to go to Eveandboy, Thailand's own Sephora.

Dinner at Som Tam Nua located at Siam Square Soi 5. The fried chicken was goooood. I can't say for the other dishes because they were spicy but my cousin really liked the larb-cooked minced pork (bottom right). We also ordered the fried northeastern style sausage but it was nothing special (was too busy eating so I didn't take a photo of that).

We then took a Grab down to TALAD Neon night market. They also sell clothes, toys, food, souvenirs and even have a (guess what!) pet cafe there. The pet cafe might be small in size, but it hosts a wayy larger variety of species from the animal kingdom - Bearded Dragons, cats, dogs and even tortoises.

That's all for now, stay tuned for the next and final part for the rest of the trip!
